Video Production - Available in 10 business days

Video production is the transfer of images such as movie film, slides, prints, flat art or videotape to DVD. Harold's full service video production lab provides all of these services and more. Movies, prints and slides can be combined on one production. The following information will help you prepare your order for production.

Movie Film
Movie film reels may vary in length. Using the chart below will help to determine the amount of running time contained on each reel. A DVD hold up to 120 minutes; approximately 34 – 50 ft reels or 4 – 400 foot reels. If the production exceeds 120 minutes, additional DVD’s will be used as needed and additional charges will apply. If an order is to be transferred in a particular sequence, clearly number the movie reels accordingly. It is best to write the number sequence directly on the reel. For later convenience, smaller movie film reels may be spliced together on a larger reel. There will be an additional charge for splices and reels used in this process.

Video Guide

15¢ per foot           or           $2.00 per minute

Prints & Slides
Prints, slides or other still images may be transferred to DVD creating a photo album on DVD. Keep in mind that the image may be cropped to fit TV screen proportions. The standard length of time the image will appear on the screen is 5-6 seconds however you may request any length of time. Images can be transferred in a specified sequence. Clearly number the image before they are submitted to create the production. About 1,200 images fit onto a DVD.

Digital Files
Digital Files may be transferred to video much like prints or slides. Files must be submitted as one of the acceptable file formats we use for creating prints (see the Digital Print Information Section) and the file name or number must be clearly identified. The standard length of time the image will appear on the screen is 5-6 seconds; however any length of time can be requested. Image can be transfer in a specified sequence. Clearly number the image before they are submitted for to create the production. About 1,200 images fit onto a DVD.

Video
Adding text to a video production is possible. Pricing is based on the running time of the existing video.

Background Music
Music may be added to enhance your video production. All music must be supplied by you. CD’s are the preferred format of music. Prints may coordinate with specific songs. To determine the appropriate number of images per song, divide the number of images by the total seconds in the song. We recommend no less than 5 seconds of viewing per image.

Graphic Titles
Titles can be placed on the screen at any point throughout the transfer. List all titles you want inserted and state specific locations where they would like the titles to appear. Titles must be clearly printed or typed out. There is an additional charge of $2.00 for each screen of graphic titles.

Editing
Video Image Productions requiring editing or special requests require an in-lab appointment at a rate of $60.00 per hour. Contact the Harold's Video Lab during regular hours to set up appointments.

If you have your own original video that you would like shortened or restructured, we will "edit" your video by removing unwanted portions or rearranging segments. This process of editing allows your original video to remain intact and unaltered, and produces a second edited video. Because the amount of necessary editing can vary a great deal, the video lab technicians can only determine the price of editing a particular tape.

Completed productions are kept on file for a limited time (approx. 30 days). Corrects and edits like the addition of music can sometimes be made to completed productions. Additional charges may apply.

Final Format – DVD
To insure you receive the best possible quality on a transfer, we provide a blank DVD used to complete all video services. DVD’s are produced with chapter markings. These chapter markings provide easy previewing of the DVD at intervals. Chapter breaks are placed where appropriate or needed and are determined during production. When transferring reels, chapter breaks will occur with each reel. Harold’s uses the latest video technology using DVD-R discs. It is possible that older DVD players are not compatible.
